In a way it’s comforting to be reminded that even back home things don’t always work out the way we them too. Hopefully by this time the admistrators will get a good backup system in place. We like reading the comments but if they get keep getting deleted we miss out on a lot.

Hi Lance,
If I believe right, the last crash took down two or three comments that weren’t backed up. (One of them coming from you.) While I understand that every single comment provides you with inspiration and encouragement, it technically remains a small number from our perspective. I hope this statement does not come across as an attitude, on our part, displaying feelings of carelessness towards the comments. We like reading them too and it is extremely frustrating for us to find that the bridge has crashed [once again].

We have learned from history and stepped up our backups in both frequency and thoroughness. However, we are not ready to declare that it will never happen again because, as you know, computers can be funny things sometimes… No one in the entire cyberworld can truthfully claim that their servers have 100% up-time. Care to imagine why?

Why do I feel tempted to say, “Computer boards are all made in China!” ??

In all seriousness, we know that there is no excuse for losing data, especially if it is irreplaceable, as are the comments.

This entire web site is hosted by a company that has been more and more of a disappointment because of their inability to manage servers. They are, therefore, responsible for the crashes we have experienced. Their job will be taken away and given to someone who appreciates it and does it well.

Now if you’ll just excuse me… (Bows out)
